Social-emotional learning, fifteen minutes a day

A story, a question and a quiet moment to think — every school day. SELfie helps children name what they feel, calm themselves down, and get along with the people around them.

From Leela's Quiet Voice, Grade 1, Week 1

“Are our children emotionally equipped for the world?”

Most schools are asked this by parents before they ask it themselves. SELfie gives you a daily, visible answer.

WHAT CHILDREN LEARN

Five human skills, practised across the year

Built on the five CASEL competencies — the most widely used framework for social-emotional learning — and mapped to NEP 2020.

Self-awareness

Knowing what I feel, and why.

Self-management

Calming down and trying again.

Social awareness

Noticing how others feel.

Relationship skills

Making friends, and mending things.

Responsible decisions

Stopping to think before I act.

THE SAME FRIENDS, ALL YEAR

Children meet a small cast of helpers — and use them long after the lesson ends

BRAIN HELPERS

Wise Owl · Guard Dog · Memory Elephant

A child-sized way to understand what happens in their own head.

SELF-TALK

Grumpy Crow · Helpful Parrot

Two voices every child hears — and learns to choose between.

CALMING DOWN

Traffic Light · Balloon tummy breathing

Stop, breathe, think — practised until it is a habit.

IN THE CLASSROOM

Calm Corner · Buddy Bench · Kindness Garden

Small places in the room where the skills get used.

One programme, grade by grade

IN DEVELOPMENT

Kindergarten

A gentler first year built around five feelings — happy, sad, angry, scared and surprised.

WHAT YOUR SCHOOL GETS

Everything a teacher needs to run it tomorrow

Run it two ways. In Teacher Leads, your teacher reads from the guide — no screen needed. In SELfie Guides, a short video tells the story and the teacher leads the talk.

A lesson for every day

The story, what to do, and the five-part arc, step by step.

Story videos

On story days, for classes that use SELfie Guides.

Ask the class

Questions to pose, with prompts if children get stuck.

What to watch for

Signs a child is getting it — or needs a little more.

Weekly parent handout

So the conversation carries on at home.

Class observation tool

Quick notes on each child's participation and growth.

SELF-AWARENESS · WEEK 1

Leela's Quiet Voice

Visitors arrive, and Leela's voice goes small. With her friends' help, she finds a name for the feeling — and sings anyway.

Questions principals ask us

Does SELfie need screens in every classroom?

No. In Teacher Leads mode the teacher runs every lesson from the guide. Screens are only used if you choose SELfie Guides.

Where does it fit in our timetable?

Fifteen minutes — most schools use the start of the day or the period after lunch.

How will parents know what their child is learning?

Every week comes with a short parent handout that explains the skill and gives one thing to try at home.

Start with one grade. Watch what changes.
